The Venue

Casa Motus is a rural complex of around 400 sqm located on the hills of San Giovanni in Marignano, immersed in an agricultural area spanning over 4 hectares.

The main building, an old farmhouse, has undergone a restoration designed by architect Matteo Ascani. This project was supported by the PNRR – Next Generation EU, blending public funding and private investment, with the aim of enhancing the rural architectural heritage and improving its safety, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.

Spaces

The interior and exterior spaces have been designed to host artistic residencies, cultural activities, workshops, and shared research moments. The complex includes:

(Guesthouse)

— Featuring two independent kitchens and a large fireplace, it provides accommodation for artists and professionals in residence, with spaces designed for both work and daily life.

(2 Studios)

— Equipped with audio systems, lighting, and a dance floor.

(Courtyard)

— A tree-lined courtyard that will house a stage for performances, concerts, and site-specific events.

(Terrace)

— Designed as a modular space for workshops, exhibitions, and outdoor meetings.

(Portico)

— A restored farmhouse portico, intended for workshops, public gatherings, and social activities.

(Garden)

— Paths and terraced agricultural land that connect the various spaces and allow direct access to the surrounding landscape.

Casa Motus is situated within an active agricultural context, maintaining a strong bond with the land. Notable features include:

• A historic olive grove, already in production.

• A Trebbiano vineyard, set to be restored.

•A walnut grove to be revitalised, with potential

 for enhancing biodiversity.

• Wheat and alfalfa crops, which testify to the site's agricultural vocation.

Casa Motus is not a traditional accommodation facility; it is a space for work, research, and training, designed to adapt to different projects and foster dialogue between the arts, nature, and sustainable practices.
